May: The Month for You & Your Child

The Jamaican National Child Month Committee (NCMC) is encouraging 31 Days of Love in Child Month (May). During this time, adults are encouraged to show children that they care. The activities are in purple. My comments are in red. I hope you've been able to do some of this stuff with your kids since the start of the month.

May 1 - Tell your child/children you love them.
May 2 - Ask children about themselves.  Be prepared to listen to what they say.
May 3 - Hug your children.
May 4 - Talk openly with your child.
May 5 - Go to church with your child.
May 6 - Smile with your child.
May 7 - Apologize when you are wrong, no matter how challenging this may be.

May 8 - Praise more; criticize less.
May 9 - Meet their friends.
May 10 - Help a child other than you own.
May 11 - Ask them how they feel.
May 12 - Take them on an outing.
May 13 - Talk directly to your children, not at them.
May 14 - Play outside with your children.

May 15 - Follow them when they lead, which helps to build their self-confidence
May 16 - Make decisions with them.
May 17 - Treat your child.
May 18 - Tell them a story.
May 19 - Talk directly to them.
May 20 - Empower them to help themselves.
May 21 - Share a meal with your child.
May 22 – Discuss their dreams.
May 23 – Celebrate their achievements.
May 24 – Exercise together.               
May 25 – Believe what they say: trust them.
May 26 – Cook dinner together.
May 27 – Introduce them to a new experience.
May 28 – Tolerate their interruptions.

May 29 - Share a secret.
May 30 - Appreciate their individuality.
May 31 - Pray with them.

Child Month & Christine's Gift to You

I guess everybody knows by now that May is Child Month. The local National Child Month Committee (NCMC) that will be encouraging 31 Days of Love. Stay tuned for that. Today's action is to tell your child/children you love them.

That committee is encouraging caregivers and parents to show love to children in different ways during each day this month. Since the focus of this blog is on children and their stories, we'll be following along and hightlighting each day's action.

Meantime, Christine (my main character) and I will be hosting two giveaways this month, so stick around for that and enter as many times as you like on the Rafflecopter below. The other Rafflecopter will go up shortly. You'll like that giveaway even better!
